It's easy to make your own schnapps for Christmas! Serve schnapps flavored with Christmas orange, saffron, cinnamon or other nostalgic flavors with our simple recipes below. Since it's easy to flavor schnapps, being creative pays off. There are also recipes for non-alcoholic schnapps for the family members who don't drink.
1. Schnapps with essence of Christmas orange

Who doesn't love the scent of a festive pomander? This aquavit/spirit infusion with orange, clove and cinnamon tastes as good as pomanders smell! We recommend organic oranges because their peel is not sprayed. The recipe yields about 500-700 ml of schnapps.
Ingredients
- 500-750 ml any spirit
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 piece of ginger
- 3-4 cloves
- Orange peel from ½ orange
How to
-
Choose a nice glass bottle for serving.
-
Place 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 piece of ginger, 3 or 4 cloves and ½ orange peel in the bottle.
-
Pour in any spirit (at least 500 ml) into the bottle using a funnel.
-
Let chill for at least one day.
-
Serve well chilled.
The bottle can be kept in the freezer without any problem. Serve and carry your schnapps with a unique mason ladle with a bell!
2. Ginger shot with cinnamon as this year’s non-alcoholic Christmas schnapps

Schnapps and drinking songs are a tradition at the Christmas table that everyone should be able to join — even those who don't drink alcohol. For them we have this ginger shot recipe to take instead, which is also said to be very healthy! If you add a cinnamon stick during preparation you get a festive touch and make an already healthy drink even more refreshing! The recipe yields 500 ml of schnapps.
Ingredients
- 5 dl water
- 200 grams ginger
- 2 lemons
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
How to
-
Peel and grate the ginger carefully.
-
Halve and squeeze the juice from the lemons into a container.
-
Pour the water into a saucepan together with the ginger and the cinnamon stick on low heat for about 20 minutes (not boiling).
-
Strain off the liquid and add the lemon juice.
-
Add optional ingredients.
Place a bottle with the ginger shot on the Christmas table so those who don't drink alcohol can also join in when singing 'Hej Tomtegubbar'! Tip! Use a citrus press from Dorre to easily squeeze the juice from your citrus.
This non-alcoholic schnapps is intended for Christmas but we also have a recipe that is suitable for Midsummer.
