Dorre is a Swedish family business founded in 1963 in Borlänge and is now run by the third generation. Since the start, we have developed and delivered products for kitchens, serving, and social occasions at home.

Our business is built on extensive experience in trade, product development, and distribution. We work closely with both suppliers and retailers, focusing on creating products that work in everyday life and stand the test of time.

With short decision-making paths and a flexible organization, we are able to quickly develop and adapt our range to how the market actually looks. Each season we launch new products, while continuously developing and refining our existing assortment.

Today, Dorre is represented by retailers throughout the Nordics, both in stores and online. We work long-term with our partners and build an assortment that is clear, relevant, and competitive.

How it all started

Dorre was founded in 1963 by Ove and Inga-Lisa Johansson in Borlänge. The business started on a small scale, selling to customers including PUB and NK, with a focus on materials such as wrought iron, copper, wood, and ceramics.

During the 1970s, the company outgrew its first premises and moved to its current address, which has since been expanded in several stages as the business has grown.

In the 1980s, the next generation took over and the company continued to grow through close work with customers and retailers across Sweden. As competition increased, purchasing was expanded internationally, first within Europe and later to Asia, where a large share of production takes place today.

To strengthen its presence in the supplier chain, Dorre established its own office in Shanghai in 2010, responsible for purchasing, quality control, and supplier relations.

Since 2018, the company has been run by the third generation, which continues to develop the business with the same foundation: long-term thinking, close ties to the business, and a focus on products used in everyday life.

Sustainability work & responsibility

Since the start, Dorre has worked with quality as its foundation. For us, quality is not only about the product, but about the entire chain – from manufacturing to delivery.

We place demands on our suppliers when it comes to working conditions, safety, and human rights. Before we begin new partnerships, we carry out our own checks and visit the factories. After that, we follow up continuously through close contact and regular visits.

Through our office in Shanghai, we have our own presence close to production. This gives us better insight, shorter decision-making paths, and the ability to ensure that our requirements are met over time.

Environment

We continuously work to develop our supply chain and reduce our environmental impact.

This includes optimizing transport, making packaging more efficient, and making conscious material choices where possible. Packaging is recycled, and we strive to influence material choices early in the process.

A large share of our transport within Sweden is by rail, which reduces climate impact compared with road transport. We continuously review how we can develop our way of working and make more sustainable decisions as conditions change.
