After a day filled with adventures on the slopes, cross-country trails, or out in the mountains, there are few things that beat the feeling of landing in the cabin with a warm coffee drink in hand. Winter is far from over, and what makes the cold months better than embracing them with a really good and warming drink? A big favorite during the winter season is the classic Irish Coffee, but despite its simplicity, it can be trickier than you think to make a really good Irish Coffee. Therefore, we have gathered our best tips so that you succeed with this lovely coffee drink - every time!
3 simple tips for succeeding with your Irish Coffee
1. Skip the straw
When you drink an Irish Coffee, it can be tempting to use a straw to avoid burning yourself, but when it comes to this drink, it's better to skip it. Irish Coffee is made to be sipped through the cream so that you get a bit of both hot and cold in each sip. So skip the straw and enjoy your Irish Coffee as it should be!
2. Serve the drink in stylish Irish coffee glasses
The key to a perfect Irish Coffee is not just about the taste but also about how it is served. Therefore, use classic Irish Coffee glasses to highlight the drink's layers and the perfect balance between hot coffee, rich whiskey, and lightly whipped cream. Additionally, these glasses are designed to withstand heat!
3. Preheat the glass
Do you want to enjoy your drink for a long time? Make sure it stays warm by warming the glass before serving the drink. Fill the glass with hot water, let it sit for a while, and then pour it out before serving the drink. This simple trick keeps your Irish Coffee warm longer, so you can enjoy it at your leisure.
Irish Coffee recipe
Irish Coffee is a timeless classic that is traditionally mixed with Irish whiskey, but you can certainly experiment with other options if you prefer. If you use Scotch whiskey, it becomes a Gaelic Coffee, while a mix of Baileys and Cointreau instead transforms it into a Kaffe Karlsson. Customize the drink to your own taste and enjoy a warming coffee drink!
You need:
4 cl whisky
1 dl hot, strong coffee
1 tsp brown sugar
3 tbsp whipped cream
Do this:
-
Brew coffee.
-
Mix the sugar and whiskey in the glass and stir.
-
Pour the coffee and stir with a spoon.
-
Whip the cream lightly and pour it into the drink.
Tip! Place a long spoon in the glass and pour the cream over the back of the spoon down into the drink so that the cream just sits on top.
