A miracle cure for colds - How to succeed with your ginger shot

No one has missed the hype around the incredible ginger shot, right? No, I didn't think so. What many don't know, however, is that this drink becomes much healthier if you make it at home yourself. Ginger shots bought in the grocery store cost a fortune and usually don't contain much ginger in relation to other ingredients. So there's no reason not to try making your own vitamin boost at home instead:

Ginger shot recipe:

1 l Water
300 g Fresh ginger
0.5 dl Honey
250 g Lemon

Instructions:

  1. Peel and coarsely grate the ginger with a grater
  2. Pour the water into a saucepan & then add the ginger.
  3. Use a thermometer and heat the mixture to 60°C (140°F) and try to maintain this temperature for about 20 minutes. Avoid letting it boil, as this will cause a loss of many of the vitamins.
  4. Strain the ginger pieces using a sieve or colander and mix the honey into the liquid while it is still warm
  5. When the mixture has cooled, squeeze in the lemon juice. Feel free to use a  citrus juicer to get as much juice as possible from the lemon.
  6. Sift again
  7. Store the shot in a refrigerator.

How many ginger shots can you take per day? Don't overdo your intake of ginger. 1-2 shots per day is more than enough, which corresponds to about 4g of fresh ginger.
