Planning a gender reveal and want to make the big reveal a little extra special? Cupcakes are one of the most common ways to reveal the baby’s sex in a fun way. Here we’ve gathered three fun ways to reveal the baby’s sex and an easy cupcake recipe that’s perfect for the occasion!

Reveal the sex in a fun way - 3 tips!
Want to make the gender reveal a little more memorable than just finding out at the midwife’s appointment? Ask the midwife to write down the baby’s sex on a note and give it to a friend or family member who can plan the reveal for you.
Here are three fun ways to do it:
-
Surprise cupcakes
Bake cupcakes and color the filling blue or pink. Cover with frosting so no one can see what’s hidden inside. Let all the guests take a bite at the same time and discover the color and the baby’s sex together.
-
Balloon with confetti
Fill a large balloon with blue or pink confetti. Pop the balloon in front of the guests or just with family, and let the color reveal the baby’s sex.
-
Cake with hidden filling
Order or bake a cake with colored filling. Instead of cutting a regular slice, you can press a wine glass into the cake and lift it out. Then the filling is visible right away and reveals the baby’s sex in a more fun way.

Tips for a gender reveal!
Want to use the cupcakes to reveal the baby’s sex? Make an extra batch of frosting and divide it into two bowls. Color one blue or pink depending on the baby’s sex and leave the other neutral.
Fill a piping bag with the colored frosting and pipe filling into the center of each cupcake by gently pressing the tip down. Then top with the neutral frosting so the surprise stays hidden. When guests take their first bite, the color and the baby’s sex are revealed.

Decorate cupcakes
Decorate your cupcakes with a palette knife for a simpler result or use a piping bag to make beautiful cupcakes. Vary between different nozzles to create everything from classic peaks to swirls and roses.
Top with sprinkles, fresh berries, or sugar paste decorations for beautiful cupcakes that are perfect for a baby shower or gender reveal.
